Because its a spring, it's chilly water! But it feels great in August and the people-watching can't be beat. If you're in the park and just want to dip your feet without paying to get in, follow the fence toward the lake where the pool spills into the creek. Lots of waders and dogs, and you can rent canoes just down the trail.

There are lots of trailheads and trails in this system, one is right by Barton Springs pool, summer weekends can get crowded here so you might want to try the Tacodeli entrance. Also, if you go to the one by the mall, don't leave anything valuable in your car. They have issues with that area.

Sightseeing
You will see people lined up on both sides, in boats and canoes in the water, and lining the shore at sunset from March to October. That's when a huge colony of Mexican Free-tail bats living under the bridge takes flight for evening feeding. It's quite a site!
