Walking, Hiking, Bicycling, Swimming, Boating, Skateboarding, Surfing, Climbing, local and inter-island Bus and Car routes are all accessible within a half hour walking distance of our house. You'll have to bring or rent your own gear in Gran Canaria. We provide a safe place to sleep to start your adventure. We can make space for you to store your gear as required. Please message in advance your needs. We offer unlimited WiFi to plan your adventures when you stay as well as ideas of adventures and local produced pamphlets for various companies etc. We also have notice boards where activities of the day / month are posted in the house for ideas. The tourist information office in Santa Ana Church square is around a 20 min walk from the house for further information and ideas. You can begin your island and Las Palmas Adventures at our front door. In 2 to 5 minutes walk from our front door: City Bus Line 13 Stops (Linea 13 - Mercado de Vegueta - Tres Palmas - GuaGua Municipalities North travel stop at No.154 Paseo San Jose across street from Bar Robanya and South travel stop at No.170 Paseo San Jose in front of EuroBar, ) Paseo San Jose (San Jose Street). Along Paseo San Jose are the local shops, convenience stores, pharmacy, churches, bars (including my favourites the EuroBar, Bar Montaga and Bar Robanya), Spar Grocery store, EuroPan franchise bread shop, parks, kids play areas, cafes, hairdressers, bicycle shop, butcher, furniture and clothing stores, social clubs and fitness gyms. Hop on the #13 local (Guaguas Municipales) city bus in front of the infamous EuroBar on Paseo San Jose North or South just minutes from the front door to get around via local transit. Transit in the city costs 1.40 a trip. Cheaper transit cards (0.80 per 1 1/2 hour or x2 city bus rides) can be bought at kiosks in major bus stations that bring the costs down. You will have to get a card during their regular business hours. Once you have a bus card you can recharge them in most lottery shops and convenience stores in Las Palmas. The public transit system in Gran Canaria is amazing and for under 20 euro a day you can easily explore the whole island or for under 3 euros the whole city. Bicycles can be rented locally and parking (free) can be found in the streets near the house if your lucky as you will compete with locals looking for parking as well. The neighbourhood is old and the majority of homes do not have parking including ours. Eat and dine local and save many Euros. You can shop for groceries and eat at the house or you can try the many hamburger restaurants and local pub food offered in the area. Bar Montaga does excellent inexpensive Vegetarian and Meat; Chinese Food and Spanish Food dishes. They also have make a great breakfast sandwich and coffee deal. Most bars and restaurant / cafes here open early and close late with a siesta in-between. Siesta here is between 1pm – 4:30pm however some shops are always open. Bars and food choices close around 11pm. There is a 24hr local convenience store (North on Paseo San Jose past the local church) in 10 minute walking distance if your super hungry late at night and don't want travel far. Drink prices at the local pubs here start at 1 Euro. In 15 - 20 minutes walk: West (Uphill): Ridge of Bunkers de San Juan Local bus GuaGua Municipales stops for Line 54 East (Downhill): Local Running Track, Basketball Courts, Soccer Pitches, Free Public Climbing Wall and Cross-fit Training area, Moulin Hamburger Restaurant, International ATM's, Caixa Bank, Clinics, Sports Betting Shops, San Jose Hospital, San Jose Fire Station, Local bus GuaGua Municipales stops for Line 12 Hoya de La Plata-Puerto and Line 9 Hoya de La Plata - Hospital Dr. Negrín Global Bus Stop @ Puesto Guardia Civil North (Sidehill, Up and Downhill): Pizza, Chinese Food and Local restaurants HiperDino Grocery Store Guiniguada Bus Station SuperMercado Guiniguada Teatro Bus Station Cathedral Santa Ana and historic oldtown Vugueta Tourist Information Office (in square in front of Santa Ana Cathedral) South (Sidehill, Up and Downhill): San Jose Hospital Global Bus Station @ San Jose Hospital If your feeling strong you can go uphill and you can reach the ridgeline (Ridge of Bunkers de San Juan) behind our house in under 15 minutes if your a quick hiker. Up on the ridge you can see amazing views for 360 of Las Palmas including the Eastern Shore to one side of the ridge and the Tropical Brewery tucked in the valley to the west, historic oldtown area called Vugueta to the north along with views of Santa Ana Church, and views towards Telde and the peaks of Gran Canaria to the south. On the ridge you can explore the Bunkers de San Juan - decommissioned World War 2 bunkers if your brave. of heart. Bring a flashlight. The bunkers run the length of the ridgeline. This ridge area also offers some moderate to advanced mountain biking trails in a mix of rural and urban runs. The east shore of L
