If its a bit of culture, the movies or a shopping experience then go visit Exeter. St Nicholas Priory is the oldest standing building in the city, dating from the 11th Century. Founded in 1087 by William the Conqueror, it was home to Benedictine monks for over 400 years. It will take you about 25mins, grab the Park & Ride and save the planet.

Hembury Fort just 12 mins by car Ia nice short walk to the hill top commanding a beautiful view south and over the town of Honiton. The site shows evidence of settlements dating back to the Neolithic period, used as an Iron Age Fort and as a base for the Roman army in the middle of the 1st century AD.
