Food scene

We love Hub & Spoke for its laid back vibe in a beautiful setting. Great coffee & good, FRESH food! All the fruit & veg is grown onsite. The owners Steve & Karen are fabulous and always up for a chat. You can buy permits there to go MTB riding and hire bikes. Get tips on trails, meet up with other cyclists or just indulge in a vegan brownie and berry smoothie ! Top Tip for a Saturday morning - Avoid the long coffee queue at the market by walking across the road (behind the tennis courts) to Hub & Spoke for coffee and brunch!

The Pub - Made famous by the "Give that man a bells!" add. Great spot for watching the rugby. Or sit on the front porch, sipping a drink while watching Greyton pass you by. Their Coffee Pod makes a good coffee and always has some yummy pastry or fresh muffin treats. Its a nice long walk from the house - For a change of scenery - exit the house, turn left and left again onto Nerina Road - walk up that steep road and turn left - Walk for a long time, before dropping down to the left when you see the Church. The Post House is on the corner. Or leave the house and turn right onto Main Road and continue walking until you see the Post House appear on your right. Nice to go for a walk with a coffee reward at the end.

A Greyton institution - Go here for good home cooking. Dinner is best, given the setting. The Oxtail is our favourite :)

As you enter Greyton on your left - Look out for the giant giraffe! Beautiful setting amongst all the plants. Pizza's are winners too. Plus you should be able to call in advance and order some par cooked bases to throw on the pizza oven at Eva House. Small little play are for the kiddies and freedom for them to move around. Milkshakes also a winner !

This little OK is very well stocked ! You always end up walking out with a lot more than you originally thought you needed and I always find spices and other foodie items I can't find back home. Fresh rolls and bread.

Market

Its not on Market street - That was the only way I could add it here. The Market. On Main Road. An enjoyable walk down from Eva House. Remember a bag for all your shopping. Get there early if pancakes are important to you :) Also to secure some beautiful fresh bread from John the bread guy - it sells out fast! His mushroom and liver pate is not to be passed by either. The cheese stand - YES you want their cheese! The mustard seed one is a fav as well as the mature cheddar (green wax). Samosas and doughnut stand - Listen for the whistle whilst there - that's the signal they have restocked! Pick up some fresh eggs from the market too. Snapscan, credit card and cash is king.

Walking / Riding Trails

Get into the nature reserve - Its so beautiful out there and safe. You could exit the house and turn left. At the Stop street you turn left again onto Nerina Road. Walk up, turn right and walk until you reach the entrance to the nature reserve. Follow the hiking trail sign boards. You could also bypass the main entrance and follow the fence line towards the left - enter through the gap when it appears, there's a couple of off road walks from there too. Or when you exit the house, turn left and at the stop street - Turn RIGHT. Follow the road, walk over the bridge and follow the path to the left, towards the mountains - cross over a little stream (Take some fishing nets for young kids to catch and release the fish) and set off from there. Just after that bridge I mentioned earlier, you could turn right and come to a little stream - our young boys can throw pebbles into the water for ages and explore amongst the rocks. Thats also a lovely dirt road to stroll down and admire all the houses. A good way to wallow away some time. MTB is big in Greyton so bring your bikes and visit Hub & Spoke for trail info. Cycling through the village is also a lot of fun for the whole family. If your kids have scooters, its a great place to scoot. There are so many hiking trails and so many MTB trails - The locals will be happy to help.
