Neighborhoods
If you need a place to stay, for a month or a few days, away from the city noise and minutes away from woodland hiking trails - stay with us.
Our apartment is in the neighbourhood of Vrapče, on the western outskirts of Zagreb. You can get into town by train (10 minutes ride, trains pass every 30 minutes during the day), bus (stops in front of our building, takes 15 minutes to tram, then another 20 to city centre), taxi ( 60 kuna, less than 10 euro) or bike into town (we have 3 bikes you can borrow for the duration of your stay).
Vrapče neighbourhood is on the western edge of Medvednica, Zagreb’s mountain covered in lush oak and maple forest, where you can pick mushrooms (Porcini baby!), hike for days or hours, grab lunch in several mountain lodges (Planinarski dom) along the trails or just breathe in some clean mountain air.
If you are in great shape, you can walk into the city centre across the mountain ridge (get maps at https://planinarenje.hr/podrucja/medvednica).
Going south, you can try fishing in the river Sava or nearby lakes. If your luck fails, there are trout fisheries close by :)
The building is earthquake resistant, built in 2010 and equipped with broadband internet.
We are trail runners and I was a mountain guide, so feel free to ask us about mountain tracks, good places to run in the forest...

We simply love technical museums. Nikola Tesla was one of the greatest Croatian inventor and this museum proudly carries his name. This museum has permanent exhibition and welcomes every now and then various temporary exibitions.

On the southern slope of Medvednica, at the top of the hill Mali Plazur, you can find picturesque medieval castle watching over Zagreb for eight centuries since 1254. Before castle was built there was a catastrophic invasion of Tatars who had devastated the area, burning to the ground the two settlements which later became the city of Zagreb: the burgher’s Gradec and the bishop’s Kaptol.

Zagreb Zoo was founded in 1925. You can find it in Maksimir Park with more than 350 animal species . In zoo live more than 7800 animals from all continents .

Jarun lake is great place to stroll, run, cycle or just drink coffee or eat delicious meals in lake restaurants. You can also rent equipment and row, paddle, sail, surf or swim in the lake. There is also skate park for skateboarders.
Beautiful nature and great position makes Jarun favorite place both for locals and tourists. Last but not the least, Jarun is the festival lake hosting INmusic Festival Croatia's biggest international contemporary music open-air festival.

Beautiful nature and great position makes Jarun favorite place both for locals and tourists. Last but not the least, Jarun is the festival lake hosting INmusic Festival Croatia's biggest international contemporary music open-air festival.
Medvednica mountain is one of our favorites places. It is ideal for hiking, trail running, cycling, or skiing and snowboarding in the winter. You can also come by car and spend day in nature or eat in some of mountain huts and lodges.
