This trendy restaurant is located in the centre of Chamonix, the Chef David Lillieroth was the head chef at one of our favourite restaurants “Munchies” for many years before taking the jump and opening up his own restaurants ‘Mumma’ and ‘Le shack’ right next door to each other. Their website describes David’s food as “borderless, crazy-tasty cuisine, in a non-pretentious, néo-bistrot atmosphere” and it is certainly that! Mumma is designed with sharing in mind; the space, the menu, the saké. With everyone in the same room, it's bustling, a little noisy, and full of life.

In the heart of the village of Vallorcine, at the bottom of the ski slope connecting the Col de Balme to Vallorcine you will find the Café-Comptoir. The "bistro" spirit of this restaurant in an old traditional chalet is a combination of authentic and contemporary. A bistronomic twist on classic Swiss and Italian cusine is what makes this place so special. Not every day you can hop onto your ski’s in Le tour and ski over into Vallorcine just before the swiss border and finish it all off by a delicious meal at the Café Comptoir!

This impressive log-cabin restaurant is a big favourite with guests. A typical, romantic setting with stylish decor and very cosy feel - perfect both lunch time and for dinner. The food is classic - typical French, with a lovely mix of traditional dishes, fish and lighter options. We typically love the large sun terrace, which is always beautifully arranged for guests to enjoy a wonderful lunch in the sun whilst taking in the fabulous views of the golf course and Mont Blanc panorama.

Cap Horn has become one of the most popular restaurants in Chamonix, with a beautiful setting, and great atmosphere. Located on the buzzing Rue du Moulin, this modern restaurant offers seafood as a main focus on the menu. French windows open onto a large sun-terrace. For a more intimate experience, guests can choose to sit in the mezzanine above the main room, which also later links in to the popular Night Club Les Caves.

If you are looking for one of the most historical restaurants in Chamonix - then La Maison Carrier is a must. A traditional restaurant in the setting of a reconstructed Savoyard farm, it pays tribute to Marcel Carrier’s recipes, to local producers and heritage. Located next to Albert 1er, the old farmhouse offers an authentically alpine cuisine, developed with finesse and creativity. We especially love the sumptuous carousel of desserts on the antique furniture in the centre of the restaurant, which should not be missed year round!

This restaurant truly is a feast for both the eyes and the palette - dressed with a thousand artefacts from a bygone era with a menu offering authentic “Chamoniard” cuisine. It is an alpine haven full with wooden sleds, charming knickknacks and endless fascination. La Caleche has a local and rustic feel, ideal for a family meal out, with plenty of traditional French comfort food to satisfy hungry stomachs after a hard day on the mountain! We would particularly recommend their famed triple cheese fondue!

Why not get the little red train all the way up the montenvers and get up close with La mer de glace. Note: there are a lot of steps so if you are with elderly travelers or young children it’s recommended for them to stay at the refuge at the top.

Spa

QC terme Chamonix is one of the best spa’s I have ever been too. The view is magnificent and every little details has been thought of. Local’s tip: Opt for the ‘under the stars’ pass which is slightly less expensive than the usual day pass but means you avoid a lot of the crowds that come through in the day and really get to make the most of the Spa at night. Not to be missed! If you are staying in Chamonix for a longer stay then why not pop over to Pre Saint Didier through the Mont-Blanc tunnel and visit the QC terme Pre saint Didier. Another great Spa and combined with a day of skiing in Courmayeur, this is a truly a perfect day out.

The best way to get around in Chamonix

The easiest way for travelers to get around in Chamonix is to park in a car park on the outskirts of the town and walk around by foot.
