Hiking trail with stunning waterfall in unmaintained provincial park.
We highly recommend Egan Chutes, about a 15 minute drive from the property.
It’s an unmaintained provincial park with trails on both sides of the York river. The west side is the main trail, and there is a more advanced trail on the east side.
Both trails lead to beautiful rock cut waterfalls.
On your way there would highly recommend taking the scenic drive along Fort Stewart Road with beautiful views of the Boulter Hills and local Mennonite farms.

South Gate Algonquin Park - hiking trail through pine forest to beautiful waterfalls with natural Jacuzzi pools that you can swim in. This is where the York River starts! Pick up a permit for entry into the south gate of Algonquin Park online at Ontario Parks . Ca before you go.

Public beach
Great beach for kids and adults alike! Rarely busy! Lots of shade, a children’s play structure and nice sandy beach with shallow water.

Paddling Highlights
Conroy Marsh is a significant wetland home to many flora and fauna covering an area of 2,400 hectares. It’s possible to paddle down the river to the entrance of the marsh in approximately an hour (depending on river conditions, stops and abilities). Allow more time for the return trip back up river.
There’s a smaller marsh (Gus’ marsh) noted on the map image that is approximately 15 minutes paddle down the river to. Also noted on the map, the northern ❤️ is a car take out point for a one way paddle through the marsh (it’s necessary to provision for a pick up if doing this). The flag on the map shows a favourite stopping point on the beaver trail route (inquire for more details ).
You can also paddle up river, past the big rock all the way to the bridge on Boulter road in Slabtown.

Cute waterfront town on the Madawaska River with a Polish general store (with LCBO, deli, basic grocery), local greenhouse, cannabis shop, public beach and some great options for food. We love the Bent Anchor beach bar. There is also a pizza joint which we haven’t yet tried! It’s a very pretty drive on winding roads through the forest to get there (~20 minutes away).
