Sightseeing
Not a bad place to visit. It has Luna Park for a bit of fun, plenty of food ( not as good as Carlton ) and is very nice on a warm sunny day.

Emerald lake is great place for a walk or family bbq. The train "Puffing Billy goes through the park and can be boarded there. There is plenty to do at the park.
In the main town of Emerald there is the Emerald Bakery which is famous for its pastries and a must visit if you are out that way.

Barkley square is just down the road and has Coles, Woolworths, Kmart, JBHI and some fastfood stores. With ample free parking it is the best place to get essentials.

Parks & Nature
Mount Dandenong is a great place to visit by car. There are some great walks as well as nice places for a bite or drink.
The 1000 steps is a good walk starting at the base. Get there early for a park!!
My fav spot is Burkes Lookout. Its a bit of a secret and can be hard to find but if you do go there you will be rewarded with the best views of Melbourne.
