Around a 20 minute drive from Dartmouth, Torcross is a wonderful village. The place is so quaint and for historians this is the place where they practised the D-Day Landings. There's a memorial there. Some nice places to eat too, right on the front where you can eat whilst taking in breathtaking views.

Burgh Island is a famous upmarket hotel, which many a famous person has stayed or visited over the year. If the tide is out you can walk across the beach to get to it, but if the tide is in, you have to take the sea tractor. Afternoon tea is fabulous but not cheap.

Recently under new ownership and fully renovated (2023), the Steam Packet Inn is a lovely cosy pub for winter or summer. The staff are very welcoming and the pizzas superb. A new outdoor terrace is due to be completed by May 2023 and a full restaurant menu should be up and running by then too.

Taylors has been family owned for many years and a must visit place when visiting Dartmouth. You need to book well in advance to avoid disappointment. If you can try and book the table in the bay window which overlooks the river. Lovely menu and the food is always of the highest quality.

Kendricks has been around with the same chefs for over 20 years. Tex Mex, Curry or Steaks, everything you order is well cooked, tasty and plenty of it. As of 2023 only open for evening meals but there is talk of it maybe opening for brunch.
