In a day trip, you can combine swimming, sightseeing and good eateries all in one area. South on the Aurelia variante, exit at San Vincenzo or Venturina exits and follow the signs for Baratti. The beach is surrounded by a cool pineta which in turn hides many Etruscan ruins, this is called the Parco Archeologico di Baratti e Populonia. If you feel like exploring look for the Buca delle Fate! The sand has a unique silvery black color, enjoy!
