The Lincoln memorial is the beautiful and impressive site of so many important civil rights events, not least of which Martin Luther King, Jr.'s 1963 "I Have a Dream" speech during the March on Washington. It's especially beautiful at night, however, and with significantly fewer people!

There’s a station at the Ice Area, less than a mile from the house, and you can bike across the river, or rent one at any of the 440 stations around DC. capitalbikeshare.com.
