Sightseeing
Red Rocks Coastal walk starts just at the end of the parade. Highly recommended if you want to see the local marine reserve, wild ocean views and seal colony. Its about 2-3 hours return, depending on your pace (3.7km one way) of easy flat walking.

Located at the end of the parade is the Te Kopahou Visitor Centre. An award winning entranceway redeveloped from the old quarry building now housing displays of the old quarry, southern coast history and local flora and fauna. Spectacular views of the Cook Strait and the wild Southern Coast.

Check out Carlucci Land mini golf around the corner on Happy Valley Road, one of Wellington's unique landmarks. Admire the sculptures and interact with the remarkable artworks on display.

Just a five minute drive away you will find Island Bay. A great sandy swimming beach, playground, local New World supermarket, Empire Cinema and Cafe and for the kids we highly recommend the Island Bay Marine Education Centre Bait House Aquarium, open every Sunday 10am until 3pm, complete with touch tanks.

Just a five minute drive away you will find Island Bay. A great sandy swimming beach, playground, local New World supermarket, Empire Cinema and Cafe and for the kids we highly recommend the Island Bay Marine Education Centre Bait House Aquarium, open every Sunday 10am until 3pm, complete with touch tanks.
Lyall Bay is a 10 minute drive along the coast towards the airport. There is a dog beach (great for those travelling with pets) located at the far end closest to the airport extending to the iconic Maranui Cafe located above the old Surf Life Saving Club which is well worth a visit. The Spruce Goose sits directly opposite the dog beach, next to the airport. A great spot also for a coffee or a meal post dog walk as they have outdoor tables and dog water bowls.
