Check the details to get a good idea of length, ease, type, any safety things you should be aware of. Dogs should have up to date tick treatment always to be safe.
This track has mild vehicle use and other dog walkers at peak times but is a pleasant on-road (unsealed) walk. It does undulate and is uphill on the way back. Phone reception (telstra). Not a loop. Approx 4kms/6000steps. No 1080 bates if you follow the instructions. Beware wildlife. Suitable off-leash if you trust your dog. Spring flowers, sheltered walk on windy days, suitable in wet weather. Take the Bonang Road out of town (about 6kms), take the well signed right turn on to 4 1/2 Mile Track (unsealed road). A couple of KMs in the first right turn is Stock track. Park at the turnoff and walk down stock track. I suggest turning back when the track becomes VERY steep. You can continue but there is a 1080 bate spot at the base of the hill where the T-intersection is.

A loop walk which can be varied in length but you do have to make it pay the tip which can be...unpleasant. The reward is a great paddock view and no 1080 bates so off leash (for dogs that are trusted and won’t chase wildlife) is possible. Approx 3km/4000steps 2 very short but steep gullies, a creek crossing which can be difficult in quite wet weather. Drive out of town on the Bonang Rd a few KM and pull off at Orbost Tip Rd. Walk not on the Tip Rd but take instead the track down the fence line of the paddock on the left. Follow the fence all until you get to the great view over the paddocks and it gets very steep and rocky. Turn onto the next track going to the right. (Any track you take will get you to Tip Rd, but depending which you take will make the walk longer or shorter). Once on Tip Rd follow it back past the tip to your parking spot. There is a granite quarry at the end of Tip Rd so take care when on the road for trucks/cars.

A good picnic spot with a toilet and a few tracks to walk. The waterfall walk is only about 5-10mins but a good view. You can continue on to the bottom but beware the steep and slippery, leaf littered track. The turn is visible before the viewing platform. Dogs allowed on leash. There are 1080 bates on most of the vehicle tracks around so keep dogs on leash. A 800m loop walk (no bates but a creek crossing which the bridge burnt in the fires and not yet replaced) is also accessible. As well as a longer walk that joins on (about 5km return) which takes you to the old reservoirs. The start is hard to find due to the bridges being burnt.

Don’t do this walk if your dogs tick treatment isn’t up to date. Especially if damp. Also be aware of snakes. Drive to reservoir track and park at the reservoir. Follow the walk sticking to the path, not the road. There is a bridge with the far end burnt. You can turn there or go a little further before you turn back. Great walk for frog sounds on the right day! Let your dog of leash if you can keep them in sight, and do t have to worry about them chasing wildlife or being silly with snakes.
