Avondale is one of the original Jacksonville neighborhoods, where captains of industry and finance settled along the St. Johns River in the early twentieth century. Hundred year-old homes sit along tree-shaded streets, where a casual evening walk is a master class in majestic architecture, including residences that carry the designation of nationally registered historic landmark.
The Shoppes at St. Johns,” has an outstanding array of restaurants and small, locally-based purveyors of fashion, home furnishings, antiques and gourmet foods. There are some great venues to enjoy a streetside café-style meal, cocktail or dessert.

Avondale

In the contiguous neighborhoods of Riverside and Avondale, Riverside is the hip side. It’s a younger demographic, with great bars and restaurants in the urban dining and drinking mecca they call “Five Points.” Riverside is mix of million dollar waterfront homes, affordable bungalows and upscale apartment and condo living. The Riverside vibe is all about diversity, community, urban living, and keeping it local. The world-class Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens is also located in the Riverside neighborhood. The Riverside Arts Market (RAM) is a must see if you’re visiting town on any given Saturday.
