Beach
We have purchased a membership to the Hawthorne Beach club, a private sandy beach on Panther Pond maintained by Slovenski Camps. The beach is only accessible by boat and is about 8 minutes away from the house by canoe or kayak. Renters are welcome to make use of this amenity during their stay. Please check in with beach attendants on arrival and let them know you are staying at Raymond Retreat and be sure to review and abide by the rules below:
Beach Regulations: - Boats are asked to approach and depart at moderate speeds. Maine state law enforces a safety zone within 200 feet of shore. From the Town of Raymond web site: This safety zone is in effect near ALL shorelines, even around points, islands, coves, and on rivers. This law exists for
two primary reasons: - Safety. The zone 200' from shore is the area where swimmers and small boats are most likely to be present and where a boater operating at high speed might not see them. (But there may be swimmers
anywhere in the lake at times, so please do keep a careful watch.) - The Environment. The 200' zone helps reduce the environmental impact of boat waves, reducing erosion and protecting the delicate shoreline habitat of species like nesting loons." - Insurance regulations: Swim at your own risk. Attendant, but no lifeguard, on duty. - Environmental regulation: No bathrooms on the beach. When someone has to go to the bathroom, boaters have to return home.
Visits should be of a reasonable length less than 4 hours. Hawthorne Beach Club

Tassel Top Beach is situated on 35 acres on the east shore of Sebago Lake. A stand of mature pines and hardwoods grace the entrance to the park and the park road leads you to a graveled parking lot. A short walk brings you to 900 feet of sandy beach, one of the best beach areas on Sebago Lake. The beach has a secured swimming area marked by buoys; however there is no lifeguard supervision. The beach area has many picnic tables, outdoor grills and changing rooms are also available. Tassel Top offers a fully stocked Snack Shack with ice cream, hot foods, charcoal, candy, drinks, snacks, clothing, sundries, beach toys and more.
Another enjoyable feature of Tassel Top is a walking trail, covering about 0.90 of a mile, that meanders through acres of Maine woods. The clearly marked trail has points of interest marked by signage and benches for quiet meditation or rest. The trail is maintained by park staff and is handicapped and stroller accessible. This path if for FOOT TRAFFIC ONLY. No bikes, ATV's...etc.
There is no boat launch at the park and boats of any type are not allowed on the beach.
Dogs and other pets are not allowed in the park or on the beach at any time.
The park is supervised by a Park Ranger and Assistant Rangers, who are present daily.

Tassel Top Park

Rattlesnake Mountain via Bri-Mar Trail is a 2.5 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Raymond, Maine that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round.
NOTE: This trail closes annually between (April 1st-May 1st) for Saturated Soils.
