Food & Fun

I love going to this cafe and restaurant. The food is good. In the winter they often have a cozy gas fire going that looks like a real log fire. You can relax in comfortable couches. Luscious mountain bush walks are just a few steps away from the front door (short or long) and it is only about 5 minutes from the carpark where you can enter the ski fields.

Situated in New Plymouth, just a half hours drive North) is this lovely park. There are bush walks, playgrounds, ponds, winter gardens, row boats and a cafe. Well worth a visit. In the summer the annual light festival is held here, well worth a visit on a lovely evening.

Sightseeing

Step back in time when you enter this historical village. So interesting. Well worth a visit. There is also a lovely cafe nearby called the Shaky Pear.

If you have a car and fancy a walk through lush mountain bush down to a waterfall, this is a lovely place to visit (have good footwear as can be muddy in winter). Also be aware that the walk back up is much harder than going down!!

I have never been to this museum near Hawera (30 mins south of Stratford) but I have been told so many times that it is well worth a visit. I suggest you google this for more information. This is a historical museum with life-like wax figures in historical settings. There is also a cafe.
