FINS is Australia’s iconic, most awarded regional seafood restaurant. Located by the beach at Salt, Kingscliff.Fins had a humble beginning, opening its doors on the banks of the Brunswick Heads river 27 years ago. It rose to fame when it relocated to the Beach Hotel in Byron Bay, winning Best Seafood Restaurant in Australia and 22 consecutive years of Chefs Hats. Its 3rd and final move and Fins is at its pinnacle in its current home at Salt, Kingscliff. Fins celebrity chef Steven Snow is passionate about only serving locally sourced, line caught fresh fish and seafood. Chef ‘Snowy’ is known internationally as Australia’s “seafood guy” and is an ambassador for Tourism Australian. He has been exclusively working with the same fishermen for decades. Fins is one of the only restaurants that respects that concept that seafood (like fruit and vege) is seasonal. Fins menu does not list a species (i.e. Snapper) as Snapper is not always at it’s best, nor is it guaranteed to be fresh and local. Every day at Fins you will have up to 5 different sustainably caught local fish to choose from. You will never find a farmed or frozen fish at Fins. Snowy has an unwavering commitment to organic and sustainable produce, with his own organic kitchen garden.

Chinny Brew is served from the cutest little vintage caravan serving coffee. You can find them on the left as you drive out of Kingscliff to meet the highway heading north on Phillp street. Great Coffee, mini bites and quite often you can pick up some pretty sunflowers when in season too.

We love Mockingbird. This is our favourite cafe for breakfast or lunch, just around the corner from the main street with all the cafes. Walk up the road to the right from the big roundabout with the tree and it is on the left hand side of the street..4 Seaview St, Kingscliff. Delicious food - they proudly use local produce and ethical suppliers. Menu changes seasonally.

Food here is amazing, nice location on the beach at Cabarita. Can have a sit down dinner, or cocktails and bar snacks and watch the sunset.

Dark and Intimate, cosy. Delicious Asian inspired dishes to share. “Smart Asian decor and stylish bar, dim lighting, close-set tables and floaty sheer curtains set the tone - but it is the food that truly excites. (...) A standout is crisp duck in a mandarin-tamarind sauce - sticky-sweet and flawlessly cooked.” — GOOD FOOD AU

By far the best Acai bowls around! This little hole in the wall is easy to miss, tucked away down the southern end of Marine Parade in Kingscliff, keep going down past Subway and you will find it. Has a few tables but if busy there are some picnic tables across the road to sit and enjoy your Acai bowl. Big enough to share. They also do coffee, muffins, toasted sandwiches etc.

Looking for a protected place to take the kids for a swim? The beach straight out from our unit is stunning and great for early morning or late afternoon walks, you can walk all the way to the light house at Fingal Beach if you are feeling really motivated, but if the beach is windy or you are worried about kids swimming in the ocean, there's a wonderful creek near Faulks Park, located at the southern end of Marine Parade. Faulks Park has kids' playground tables, a half-size basketball court, picnic shelters, BBQs, and toilet facilities. The creek is great for kids and usually more protected from the wind. If this side of the creek is really busy, you can drive to the other side of the creek.

Husk Farm Distillery is a must-do when visiting the Northern Rivers. Husk Distillers started out in a little green shed and is now well-known in the Australian spirits scene. You most likely know them for their popular Ink Gin. Inspired by the Caribbean rum culture, distiller Paul Messenger, with his wife Mandy and their three daughters, created a plantation distillery on their farm at Tumbulgum (pronounced tum bowl gum)—don't call it Tumble Gum, an out-of-towner rookie error! Over eight years, they developed Husk Rum, which is made exclusively from freshly crushed cane juice and is produced only during the harvest season from August to November. While their rum matured, they created Ink Gin, a unique product that gained popularity for its purple/blue and sometimes pink colour and delicious taste. Their success led to expanding their distillery to include a cellar door, bar, and barrel house, outgrowing their original farm shed distillery. There are a few different ways you can experience Husk; you can book a distillery tour or book a table or umbrella on the lawn to enjoy cocktails, tasting plates and/or lunch. If you want the casual vibe you can book a picnic rug on the lawn and enjoy a drink while watching the cattle graze. Bookings are definitely recommended. Check out their website for more details
