Pysco is located roughly 800 m away towards Pelourinho at Ladeira do Carmo 7. The restaurant is located in a mansion house on the same side of the street as Vista and, hence, sports a Lovely bay-view. The cooking at Pysco is more international and the restaurant has a decent wine list. Given that the Pestana Convento Hotel is located across the street, reservations are needed. You may call at Pysco and state that you are a Vista guest.

Boqueirão located on our street at number six is the café closest to Vista which serves a proper espresso. Please do not be discouraged by the highly disorganized clutter of 'African' art by the entrance. Hidden in the inner section overlooking the garden and the bay there is a café which even knows how to serve an 'espresso affogato' and decent chocolate cake. Browse through the books om the way out. Some interesting volumes on Salvador and Bahia can be found in the clutter.

Churches in Salvador
Churches are many and all have rich histories. The Cathedral is a 'must' and when you are on the beach please take some time to walk back towards Old Town to visit the exquisite Igreja Barra which sits on a cliff overlooking the bay. This gem of a church dates back to 1595 and its light interior and physical location are just adorable.

Salvador Beaches
The beauty of a visit to Salvador is that the visitor does not need to choose between historically fascinating city sights and marvelous beaches. This city has it all. Please take a BRL 30 taxi ride to the imposing and elegant Barra Lighthouse (Farol do Barra). There you have the choice of enjoying the waves of the Atlantic on the one side and the calmer waters of the bay on the other. For the surfers among our guests, the break on the Barra Beach offers decent action when the wind is right.

Reserving beach chairs
In case you want to reserve a spot right by the surf please speak to Marcio at Barraca MR on the Barra side. His number is + 55 71 919 230 44. The cost for our guests for two beach chairs, an umbrella, two bottles of mineral water and two caipirinhas is BRL 60. (Please compare this price to Saint Tropez!)

Shopping
Shopping is not a major pastime in Pelourinho, but recently Casa Selva at number 71 of our street Rua Direito Santo Antônio opened. The shop offers both new and second-hand ladies' fashion at remarkably affordable prices. The owners clearly have excellent taste and who can resist a stylish top for BRL 20?

Supermarket
The nearest mini-market is Nutrilar on Rua Siqueira Campos 36 which is a five minute walk down the hill from Vista. The shop is surprisingly well stocked given its small size.
