There are four beaches in Sagres and all of them are different! If you want to go windsurfing or have a look at the family resort, go to Martinhal. If you don't mind a hike, walk the steps down to beautiful Beliche - and take a cool drink at the beach bar or watch the surfers. Tonel and Mareta are located in "downtown" Sagres and are great for surfing, too. On weekdays, you can go down to the port of Sagres where fresh fish is brought on land in boats and is sold. You can watch this from the restaurant/snack-bar "A Sereia" - and they obviously serve great fish at a great price.

Aljezur is a great little town. Take a walk through the little allies up to the castle and enjoy the view from there. There are great restaurants, a really good bakery ("A Padaria", right at the main street) and the local market for you to explore. Be sure also to discover the "Igreja nova", the "new town".

Arrifana is a great beach, about a 25 minute drive away. Walk down the winding road and enjoy a day at a wind-sheltered beach with a surf school and a nice beach-bar.

Don't miss the local market, open Monday - Saturday until about 1pm. You can buy fresh fish there as well as organic fruits and veggies from the Algarve (including Mango, Passion fruit and Papaya!).
