McLaren Vale just a few minutes inland from Port Willunga has literally hundreds of wineries, many of them well known for their first class wines and olive oils. The settings are beautiful and worth a drive around the area.

A nice spot to enjoy a platter and a glass of wine sitting outside overlooking the vines. Interesting metal sculptures adorn the grounds. My personal choice in champagne for many years has been Billecarte- Saumon until I came across Lloyds version of bubbly - its very very drinkable and tasty!

Established by Zanni Flanagan, local resident and international consultant foodie, the market is the place to be on a Saturday morning to shop for fresh fruit and veg, smoked trout, real croissants and/or have a very hearty breakfast at the spot next door to the Alma Hotel itself a great place for dinner. A stroll along the main street offers organic produce, newspapers, antiques and other interesting offerings.
