Sightseeing

This is, in my humble opinion, the absolute best view you can get on Lyon. It feels so much more personal than the view from Fourvière as it isn't known by many people. La vue depuis ce jardin est à mon humble avis la plus belle que vous puissiez avoir sur Lyon. Elle est bien plus personnelle et surtout beaucoup moins connue que la vue depuis Fourvière.

Much less known than Quais du Rhône, the Quais de Saone feel way more personal and can at some locations feel like you own the river. It is extraordinary by night. My favourite sport is RIGHT in front of the flat and is one of those spots where you'll probably meet no one as it isn't known to many.

Food scene

Please note I am referring to the friterie belge BINTJE & ZOET, NOT Glacier Mirabelle which it replaced years ago. Although quite far from local gastronomy, this belgian chip shop is my personal favourite. In many years of living in Vieux Lyon, I can assure it is a great place to eat if you're very hungry on a low budget (The large fry portion is massive and will only cost you 4.5 euros) You can head the Quais de Saône to savour your burger and chips then head to Terre Adélice (both mentioned in this Guidebook)

Simply great. It tastes good and has a crazy variety of different flavors of ice cream. Give it a shot if you're craving a bit of sweetness after you're had fries at Bintje & Zoet, another one of my favourites which right in front.

Neighborhoods

This is obviously the most visited neighbourhood in the city and it dates back to the Renaissance period. It is in fact the second largest Renaissance area in Europe behind Venice.

When in Vieux Lyon, don't simply stay in the main touristy area. If you see steps leading upwards, don't be afraid to be a little adventurous as they will most probably lead to an amazing place. Either Fourvière, or the much less know Saint-Just neighbourhood which also hosts a variety of very interesting renaissance buildings.
