Wonderful craft market on Saturday and Sunday. The buckwheat pancakes sold in the Market are famous, but they are a cash only establishment, so plan accordingly. Nice 15 minute walk from the house or 2 stops on the metro. Great local businesses include East City Books, Labyrinth, Hill's Kitchen and more!

A trendy food space with lots of options to explore. Options range from gourmet ice cream to a mix of global flavors including Indian, Peruvian, Italian, and many more. Just outside the main market on a side street in the Village Cafe when is my favorite local coffee shop run by native Washingtonians and tucked next door to Politics and Prose Bookstore, a great local Indie bookstore. Tons of other great restaurants around the market too.
