The closest beach DeLand. Lots of attractions such as the boardwalk and amphitheater. It can be a bit touristy for those just looking for a beach, but it's a great place to make a day of it for those looking for games, shopping, restaurants, etc all in one place.

Our favorite beach to visit when trying to just enjoy the beach and avoid the hustle and bustle of Daytona. It's a bit further, but a lot more peaceful. Flagler avenue is the spot for restaurants, shopping, and nightlife.

Take the free ferry (donations accepted) to a beautiful island state park. It has a great visitors center and is a great place for wildlife viewing. My recommendation is to take one of the longer trails hiking or biking to see the natural beauty of central Florida. Elevation affects the plant life from cypress and ferns in low lying areas, to live oak and cabbage palm in middle ground, up to palmettos and pines in the higher areas.
