River Wye, food, river activities, walking, climbing and sightseeing
This is in a fabulous location there is a hand pulled River Ferryboat Crossing,
boat trips, lots of ducks and canoeing. You can either park at The Biblins, Monmouth and walk 4.5 miles alongside the River Wye. Or drive to Symonds Yat East, parking at the first area is narrow so drive on past the buildings and park in the larger area with the river walk at the top end.
Here you can enjoy a short or long walk along the river before eating.
Walking down to the cable bridge takes around half an hour. And a walk or drive up to Yat Rock to the internationally famous viewpoint. There are waymarked trails linking to the River Wye and a choice of circular walks into the forest itself.
The Saracens Head Inn at Symonds Yat East, Ross-on-Wye HR9 6JL is a great food pub. Reservations recommended as it can get very busy, Tel: 01600 890435.
