Silo is a great neighborhood bar with some really outstanding food. Favorites are the meat loaf with mac n cheese, the Korean tacos and the Silo burger. Yum. Wednesday's is Ladies Night and Thursday is oysters night. Brunch gets crowded.

This is an absolutely unique building in the area. Presidential inaugurations have been held here the last few times. It's free to get in and it is something indeed to see from the floor, but there are tours for about $10 each. Little kids are usually blown away by this place.

This area is the closest thing to a shopping mall in the area. It has a movie theatre, a bowling alley and is connected to the Capital One Arena. Clyde's Restaurant is also here and it's a pretty good American-style place.

This is on the roof of the W Hotel. It has clear, unobstructed views of the White House next door, Treasury and many of the monuments. Absolutely go if you have the time.

It's really a gigantic tapas place, but the bar is some of the best people watching you will get in DC, along with the fantastic tapas. If you want to sit at the bar, you should really go early, like 5:00 or 5:30, so you can find a place by 6:00.
