Necessities and Niceties

Atlanta is a shopping MECCA! Here are a few places you might want to check out or need to visit during your stay at Hartford House.
For all your inexpensive toiletries and food needs. Very close...just a few miles via car. There is a bus that will take you there if you don't have a car...just consult the MARTA Bus Schedule online. You can grab the bus by walking out the front door and heading 1/2 block West.

Super cool, locally owned small grocer. Great craft beer and wine selection, neat little coffee kiosk. Super duper service...Ask for MATT! He will help you grab anything you need. (Not thrifty, but certainly reasonable, and will save you a trip if you just want to grab something quickly).

Sweet non-profit market with staples and a few local, organic items. Little attached coffee shop, with surprisingly decent decaf specialty coffees. On your way into other parts of town where you might have activities...and especially if you like to support community focused business that have a mission of uplifting the residents around them.

The premier shopping destination for fashionistas throughout the Southeast. Nice shops...huge selections. You can go right across the way to even higher-end shops at Phipps Plaza. Lenox is located in the heart of Buckhead, which is fun to checkout for dining and nightlife...but also for the amazing Atlanta History Museum.

If you are traveling by train, you have lots of grocery store options. An easy one is the Midtown Publix. Take a red or gold line train to the Midtown MARTA station and take the Peachtree Place exit out of the station and turn right. Publix is a block down on the left. As a bonus, Mac’s Beer and Wine liquor store is nearby!

If you are at Ponce City Market and need to pick up a few things, Whole Foods is right across the street. Has a decent selection of prepared goods, and also a coffee kiosk and quick dining eatery (The Roast).

This is the closest for mall south of Atlanta (which means you can avoid some of the notorious Atlanta traffic). This outlet is smaller than most of the Atlanta-area outlet malls, but it isn't short on great deals. There are 66 stores, including many favorites such as Banana Republic Factory Store, Under Armour, American Eagle Outfitters and Lucky Brand Jeans. Also, there are many kid-focused shops (including Polo Ralph Lauren, OshKosh B'gosh, The Children’s Place and P.S. from Aeropostale).
