Makaha is filled with long stretches of beautiful, sandy shores and has consistent, picture perfect beach weather. Here are the top spots to be during your vacation.
Makaha is a world-famous beach, known for surfing and crystal blue water. It is a short two-minute drive, or a light mile walk down the hill. It is the closest beach to the condo.

Just 10 minutes west of Makaha is the protected Ka'ena Point State Park featuring the island's only secluded area filled with breathtaking beaches including Yokohama and Makua Bay. These beaches have sandy bottoms for many meters out, which make for the most blue water you will ever see! Dolphins can be found here daily regardless of season; from mid-January through the end of March, humpback whales are spotted frequently. (As they can and have been seen from the lanai at the condo!)

These beaches have sandy bottoms for many meters out, which make for the most blue water you will ever see! Dolphins can be found here daily regardless of season; from mid-January through the end of March, humpback whales are spotted frequently. (As they can and have been seen from the lanai at the condo!)

The calm shore of Pokai Bay is a popular destination for visitors. The flat swell and sand is superb for stand-up paddling and beach walking. It is a 5 to 10 minute drive and right in Waianae.

The Mermaid Caves, located in Nanakuli just as you're entering the coast, is a popular spot on the island for locals and vacationers alike! Be sure to go during low tide and a flat swell so you can safely access the cave. The pictures taken there are quite spectacular!

Highly rated! It's a cute little sit-down restaurant just three and a half miles east of the condo. Personally, the Mahi Mahi is my favorite from their menu.

Hikes
Along with the expansive choices of beautiful, white sand beaches on the Waianae Coast, there are also several hikes for all skill levels.
360 degree views of the entire Waianae Coast, from Nanakuli to Makaha. Popular for its pink "pillbox"; these were actually made to serve as bomb shelters in World War II. Easy to moderate skill level with an in-and-out trail. Located just eight and a half miles from the unit, it's definitely a must-do on your stay in Makaha.

Located just two and a half miles away from the condo, Lahilahi Point can give the adventurous guests a thrill. The recommended skill level is definitely moderate to difficult. Where to start is up to the hiker, as there is no real starting point. Climbing is involved so I recommend wearing close-toed shoes. At some points on the hike the trail becomes rock, so you have to make your own way up the mountain. Once you get to the top level of the mountain, the trail will be self explanatory and the metal post indicates the very top, so take in the view!

Located just two and a half miles away from the condo, Lahilahi Point can give the adventurous guests a thrill. The recommended skill level is definitely moderate to difficult. Where to start is up to the hiker, as there is no real starting point. Climbing is involved so I recommend wearing close-toed shoes. At some points on the hike the trail becomes rock, so you have to make your own way up the mountain. Once you get to the top level of the mountain, the trail will be self explanatory and the metal post indicates the very top, so take in the view!

Located at the most western part of Kapolei, this action-packed water park is sure to get you feeling the thrill! If you go on a weekend, I recommend arriving when it opens because of the higher popularity, especially with the more ideal weather now that summer is around the corner.
