The beautiful beaches along the Kona coastline are worthy of your time. Even if you're not a 'beach person.' The views and the nearly always sunny days often end in stunning sunsets. The resorts in the area knew well what they were doing by building here.
A 20-25 minute drive from the house.
Perfect. This is where wedding parties toast to love and eternity on the beach at sunset. Memorable. Beautiful. Eternal. If you're with someone you love, take them here and watch the sun set as the ocean and afternoon sun soothe your souls. (Going solo is good, too.)
The Mauna Kea resort has a section of sand reserved for their guests here. But the shoreline is open to the public. Thank you Hawaii!
The Hau Tree restaurant and bar is right there, too.
And Manta, fine dining, overlooks the beach and coastline.

This beach is not an isolated, less-traveled spot. But it is lovely and close by.

This US National Park is worth a visit with its preserved history as a 'place of refuge' for Hawaiians who broke an ancient law. This is kid friendly. You'll get some great views and interesting history.

This is the southern-most geographic location in the United States. Looking southward, there is nothing but ocean... all the way to Antarctica!
The cliffs here are beautiful and attract lots of visitors. Some will leap off the cliff. There is an area with a ladder on the cliff wall to climb back up. Just watching people do it is enough for me.

This is the southern-most geographic location in the United States. Looking southward, there is nothing but ocean... all the way to Antarctica!

Wandering through the park for up-close views of steam vents, sulphur fields, and the Halema‘uma‘u crater that contains a pond of rising waters since the Kilauea eruptions concluded. As of early October 2019, that pond is now the size of a football field.
