Castello dello Soglio was the first name of the Venetian castle, which along with Palamidi, is considered one of the landmarks of Nafplio. Nevertheless, the name that finally prevailed is Bourtzi, which in Turkish means « Island - Fort ». During the Venetian rule it was connected to Akronafplia through a huge metal chain that secured the port against enemy ship attacks. At the beginning of 1860 in Bourtzi used to live the executioners of Palamidi prisoners. In the summer you can reach the fortress by boat departing regularly from the port. If you are lucky enough you may even be able to attend one of the fascinating festivals taking place on the islet!

This theatre was constructed in the late 4th century BC to host religious ceremonial events in honor of god Asclepius, whose healing centre was located few steps away. Famous for its symmetry and the incredible acoustics, this classical theatre is surrounded by lush greenery and gives nice view to the valley below.

Lepidas waterfall is located near the village Platanos about 30 minutes from astros. One of the nicest waterfalls in Greece and hidden in a beautiful mountainous area. The water is super clear, little cold but totally worth jumping in. A must visit while in Arcadia area.

The Archaeological Museum of Astros is housed in a 19th century building, which was formerly used as a school (Karytsiotis school). After the necessary alterations and restoration works, the building, that follows the local traditional architecture, opened as a museum in 1985.
The Museum collections include sculptures, pottery, bronze artefacts, inscriptions, coins and a number of various finds derived from the ancient sites of Kynouria, such as Thyrea and Anthene, the hellenistic-roman cemetery at Ellinika and from one of the major sanctuaries of ancient Kynouria, the sanctuary of Apollo Tyrita dated from the 8th to the 4th centuries BC. Free-standing sculptures and architectural parts.
