Food Scene

Great selection of lunch dishes and good coffees, lattes etc. A good place for a freah salad or soup or chili for lunch ( we have not tried the panini or sandwiches but they look great). They have a variety of baked goods and we see many generations, young and old enjoying the country style vibe here. They have wifi, club chairs, tables both individual and shared and a covered or open patio to sit on. Easy access for those with mobility issues and parking nearby.

Sightseeing

Probably the warmest west facing beach in the area! Swimming area, Stand up Paddleboard and Kayak rentals , sailing, beach volleyball, skim boarding when the tide is out, multicultural picnic area and connected to Blackie Spit park and the Dunsmuir Gardens cottage community gardens. At sunset there is a tradition of youth jumping off the dock into the water as the sun goes down in summer around 9 pm ( make sure you check the water depth and are safe to jump and swim, before you do this!) There are a number of places to eat in Crescent Beach. For a beach diner with a view try Hooked Beach Bar at the beach end of Beecher St. For fancier fare try the Surfside Grill, end of Sullivan St.

The huge white rock that sits at the East end of this promenade is part of the fun of this local scene. Just across the street you will find a lot of beachside eating and Ice Cream spots, music playing many Friday nights in Summer, a lot of young romantics on dates by the sea, and people doing yoga on their paddleboards . In fall it is often a lovely warm place to walk in the morning if the sun is shining. There is a festival of light in Winter and the views are always south facing and stunning. You can see the USA from here! Great place to stroll or stride.

Parks & Nature

This is a series of woodland hiking trails that are fairly easy for all level of walkers. There are some trails for mountain bikers here. It is a safe area though we always walk in pairs. It is close to main roads and the South Surrey Recreation Centre so never far from urbanization yet quiet and a nice break in the woods.

Shopping

Largely outdoor, this mall has many North American brands represented. There is a great Indian Food spot here called " My Shanti" - you can't miss its sign glittering even on rainy days. You will find a Thrifty foods grocery store, a large wine store, women , men's and children's clothing and sport wear too. Across to the other side of 160th there is a secondary mall more focussed on youthful clothes and a large Chapters/ Indigo book store.

This is the closest grocery store, and carries most items you might need on a regular basis. It has a bakery, deli with various types of food, a fish counter and dairy as well as all the other items you might need like toilet paper or shampoo. We like to buy our vegatables across 16th street at Chan's and the Ocean Park Butcher next door to Chan's is good quality.

Arts & Culture

Closest movie theatre to us that runs 1st run movies, usually with three movies available for choice and small intimate theatres. Has a very small town feel. Really good popcorn and in a funny location, but it is close!

Getting Around

Turn right out of our driveway and cross the street following Amble Wood Drive until you see 133A street. Turn left onto 133 A street and walk straight ahead to the end of the street where you will see a little path that curves slightly to the left. Take that little path and within 50 ft you will see 16th AVe ahead. Once you are on 16th Ave , then carefully cross the road to the South side bus stop a little to the right and across the road from where you came out of the path. This is the bus stop to go to town. To return, you get off at the North side of the street bus stop near the path and walk back the same way in reverse to get home. Check wwwbctransit trip planner for routes and times
