From our house it's 20 minutes by car / 30 minutes by bus or bicycle.

Newhailes Estate is a stunning 17th-century National Heritage villa set in a fascinating landscape with woodland walks, open parkland, remains of water-gardens and built features including a shell grotto and classical summerhouse.
A coffee house and shop are located in the visitor centre.

Portobello Beach, 10 minutes from our house by bus, is a charming seaside suburb, with two miles of golden sand making it perfect for swimming and sunbathing. There are several bars and cafés on the promenade, as well as a Victorian swimming pool and Turkish baths.
