In full transparency, San Francisco has a lot of homeless people and you will see a lot of them while you're here, and it's likely you might see some tents or someone asking for money at the corner from the cars that are driving into the city. They don't normally engage with people as they walk past, so there's nothing to worry about, I only mention this because it can be very upsetting to people that don't normally see this side of humanity.
