The ancient town of Messene is worth a visit. Walk among the ruins that have been excavated and try and imagine what life was like in Ancient Greece. Enjoy the olive groves and visit the museum. My favorite part of a trip out there is to also go see the ancient city walls just outside the town. The monastery of Voulkanou is situated just above the town for those that like to visit places of religious interest.

A beautiful long beach with golden sand. Two beach bars with umbrellas and loungers provide them for free as long as you order your food, coffees and drinks from them. Otherwise bring your own umbrellas and park yourself anywhere else on this beach. The shops have play areas for the children and are also open at night for moonlit drinks and snacks and lots of music.
