if the temperature is over 70 degrees and its sunny, I consider Barton to be the best place in America. It is heaven. Sloping green lawns, happy people on blankets and towels, and an enormous spring fed pool that boasts clear, cold water year round. Note, Barton requires a $7 ticket March through October that you can purchase online or at the entrance.

My favorite Austin Restaurant just happens to be the hippest spot in town. Expect fabulous french food in a refined and bohemian setting surrounded by well dressed hipsters. Plan ahead to get a res, though walkups early and late in the evening have a decent chance of getting seated.
