Local places
The beach and the creek at high tide is truly spectacular and not to be missed. Take a picnic and enjoy. There is a cafe and bottle shop there. A popular place to drive up to is The Point to watch the ocean and whales on their migration north in winter and south in spring.

Pottsville is our local town where there are two supermarkets, teller machines, chemist, butchers and general store. Pottsville has a large number of places to eat and drink. There are bakeries and cafés through to take away, a pub and a club and a high end restaurant. Our creek is hidden away. You find it by parking and walking through the park. The creek at high tide is relaxing, safe to swim, and a place not many people know about. If you feel adventurous you can jump off the bridge at high tide too. A right of passage with many locals. The beach is over the bridge. A short drive further south brings you to Black Rocks a local’s surf spot. Park on the road opposite the bridge. The beach continues North to Hastings Point, a lovely 3 km walk.

We love Crabbes Creek. This is definitely not on the tourist map. Enjoy what they have to offer on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at the hall. It varies and ranges from Yum Cha to Thai, burgers and Indonesian food. The shop is our go to spot, friendly owners and locally sourced food and a well priced bottle shop it is great

Our local quiet beach. Head to Mooball, turn left and take the sign for Wooyung. It’s out in the country. You can take a walk to the right and head to New Brighton. It’s a good 6 km walk. Once there treat yourself to a cafe lunch. Or just lie on the beach at Wooyung, in privacy.

Enjoy the eclectic village of Burringbar. This village is approx 7 mins drive from our house. It offers a chemist, a butcher (who specialises in local meats) ,a cheese factory to visit and buy cheeses from, a laundromat, a real estate, a Thai restaurant, a cafe and a bowls club. it also has a Mexican restaurant that delivers fresh take away to be enjoyed in the park opposite the restaurant while listening to live music sitting under fairy lights. Enjoy some drinks from the wine bar that has recently set up too.
