Red Rocks is a local amphitheater. Its acoustics are unbeatable and the setting is fantastic. Is is best during the summer months but is a nice place to take a walk even without a concert to attend. Link: https://www.denver.org/things-to-do/music-nightlife/red-rocks/

Full of seasonal creeks and wildflowers, Golden Gate offers some of the most picturesque views from the headlands that expose the snow-capped and lead-blue rocks of the Rocky Mountains. Fortunately for you, the park is open all year round with snow covering the trails from as early as October through May. Golden Gate Canyon State Park is one of the treasures of Colorado’s vast park network. Located right into the northwest foothills of Golden, the park is easily accessible from the plains and the Peak to Peak Highway, which provides nothing but great hiking, mountain biking, camping, snowshoeing, and wildlife viewing. Interestingly, the park’s 11 trails are named from animals native to this area and have been assigned the creature’s footprints.

This is an easy 1.8 mile hike that runs directly through the heart of Golden. Much of the path is both paved and shaded and is an easy beautiful walk for families with kids.

This is an easy 6.6 mile hike nearby. The trails run through typical meadow highlands with views of the front range but is still an easy hike for beginners.

Great fun with many river tubes available for rent. A single trip which includes the walk takes about 1 hour. Most people spend 2-3 hours doing this activity. Life jackets required for children under 13. Helmets available. This is seasonal and can be booked in advance.

The closest 14er to the ranch is Grays Peak, which sits next to Torreys Peak. The ranch is named after this mountain as it is the tallest mountain in Colorado's front range and is also easily visible from the sunroom. These are some of the most accessible of all of Colorado's mountains higher than 14,000 feet. For this reason, these two peaks can be more crowded but the views are amazing and the climb is not too difficult.

Ride share services can be tough

These services will bring you to the ranch but it is hard to get them to pick you up from here as they usually don't want to drive up the mountain. Rental cars or limousine services are the best choices.
