South Molton (9 miles) Dating back to Saxon times, this market town is formed around a central square with historic buildings to either side which now house a number of independent shops. The town is also home to two quality butchers, a cheese larder and the brilliant pannier market which opens at 8am every Thursday and Saturday.

Dulverton (15 miles) The historic market town of Dulverton is the southern gateway to Exmoor. With plenty of old houses and shops, there is lots to explore including antiques and galleries.

Lynton & Lynmouth (8 miles) The Victorians named these two villages ‘Little Switzerland’, they are situated at the mouth of the River Lyn. From Lynmouth you can access Lynton (the higher of the two villages) either via a Victorian water-powered cliff railway, or a coast path. You will find traditional fisherman’s cottages, shops and cafes. Along the coast nearby you will find the magnificent rugged setting of the Valley of the Rocks.

Ilfracombe (21 miles) The Victorian town of Ilfracombe has a good selection of pubs, shops and restaurants all sat around an attractive harbour. Visitors can also hop on board one of the daily boat trips to Lundy Island. Tunnels Beach is a Blue Flag family beach steeped in history where visitors reach the beach through tunnels carved out of the Cliffside rocks. The UK’s tallest statue can be found here, Verity, created by Damien Hirst.
