Walking at Eggesford Forest
At Heywood there is a one and a half hour circular walk through attractive woodlands that also offers a car park and an opportunity for cycling. The walk takes you past a veteran of the Eggesford Estate, the magnificent Douglas Fir planted in around 1840, and other conifers planted early in the Forestry Commission's history. You will also find the motte and bailey castle, all that remains of a once imposing Norman fort, now a scheduled ancient monument with stunning views.

A family favourite of ours as our boys love to jump around the sand dunes. It is a huge beach so plenty of space for a quieter area. There are also plenty of eating options in the town.
Do get there early in peak season as the car park fills up fast.

Oh my goodness, just the best place to take children to. There are micropigs you can cuddle along with lots of other cute animals. There is a mini train ride, tractor rides, a playground, indoor play barn amongst other attractions.
We loved taking our children and relatives here.

Our boys had great fun here as a rainy day activity. Excellent training beforehand, and situated in the quay area in Exeter which is lovely to stroll around.

We go to the pub with friends and family often as the food is consistently delicious, the staff friendly and the portions incredibly generous. There is a garden overlooking fields with sheep and ponies.
