One of the most interesting pubs you are likely to visit. Within walking distance from Bumble Cottage so leave the car alone and take a few minutes stroll. It has a lovely garden and a nice conservatory. The pub is also dog friendly Built in 1690 it is said, the owner celebrated his good luck at a card game when, after winning a large sum of money, he built a house to represent a house of cards[2] on a plot of land measuring 52 × 53 feet, representing the cards in a pack plus the joker. It has four floors representing the four suits, with 13 doors and fireplaces on each floor equaling the number of cards in each suit, and fifty-two stairs. Before the imposition of the window tax, the panes in all the windows added up to the total value of a pack of cards.[3] Told you it would be interesting - Only in Combe Martin !

Woolacombe is one of the finest beaches in the West Country, and it is easy to see why it has won numerous awards. It’s a big favourite with families and surfers attracting thousands of people each summer to the beach and Woolacombe village. The rolling surf brings unbroken Atlantic breakers from across thousands of miles of ocean to pound on this three-mile long stretch of golden sand. The sheer length of the beach means it is possible to find quieter places in the surf even at the height of summer. Woolacombe beach combines magnificent natural beauty, excellent facilities and a wide range of activities for all ages.

Lovely walks, hard going but the views are amazing. Direct access from the car park at Combe Martin. Little Hangman is 716 feet (218 m) high and overlooks the village of Combe Martin at the western boundary of Exmoor National Park. If you walk further to Great Hangman this has the highest sea cliff in England and the highest point on the South West Coast Path.

This is the furthest attraction from our cottage in my guidebook but this is a "must see" place. Its a timeless beautiful village. Be warned its hilly and the cobblestones may be tricky for some but in the summer time if you don't want to walk you can get a land rover service up and down. Its about a 60 minute drive away. This place is recommended!

Whether you are an experienced walker or someone who prefers a short stroll, Tarr Steps is a great place to go when looking to explore Exmoor National Park. You can head straight there, utilising the on site car park and toilet facilities, with just a gentle walk down to the ancient clapper bridge. The beautiful wooded valley of the River Barle is also worth exploring for its wildlife, as is the heathland of Winsford Hill and its wild ponies in the surrounding countryside. For a short circular walk from the bridge just follow the orange way marks. There is also a more challenging circular walk from Dulverton to Tarr Steps.
