The Distillery District is THE place to go for gourmet food and drinks (BOURBON) AND bands. The old Pepper Distillery makes bourbon. The Burl and Manchester Music Hall have great bands. Crank and Boom has ice cream to die for--add your favorite spirit to your "sundae." Goodfellas Pizza is my favorite in Lex. "Middle Fork Kitchen Bar (mfkb), offers a comfortably bold take on the traditional dining experience. Inspired by the dynamics of the season, the context of the district, and the enthusiasm of his team, jensen combines ingredients, cuisines, and a appreciation for the craft for a fun and delicious result." It is expensive but worth it. The area is gritty and hip and cutting edge.

Funky and delicious. Great Bar. Built in an old Bread Shop with garage doors, near the RR tracks. Founded by the "notorious" Lucie Slone who collected the fabulous eclectic decorations. She was a fabulous chef and well known restauranteur.

A trip to Lexington would not be complete without seeing Keeneland Race Track. One of the most beautiful tracks in the world. Even if the horses aren't running it is still a nice place to see. You can book a tour on line or there is a self guided tour. The Keeneland Track Kitchen is a morning highlight, and you don’t have to be a horseman to enjoy the home-style food. In fact, you might find yourself sitting near a notable trainer, jockey or owner when you do.

We have a great Farmer's Market on Cheapside, which is next to the Old Courthouse which is being renovated for restaurants, bars and shops. It will be open soon. Cheapside has a sordid history. It was the old slave market. The statue of John Breckinridge and John Hunt Morgan were recently removed, and a memorial to the slaves stands there. The statues were placed in the Confederate cemetery at the Lexington Cemetery.
