This is a small place in Cosby at the turn to Gatlinburg. Frank makes huge sandwiches and Italian favorites. There is just a little bit of seating inside, but plenty outside along with a bocce court. Wonderful for pick up on the way back to the cabin as well.

This BBQ restaurant is right outside the Greenbrier entrance to the park. The 'que is good. We aren't in love with the sauce selection though. If you plan ahead, Jim will give you a little container of his "shack sauce" to take with you.

*****If we could only recommend one place, this would probably be it. Open seasonly- call before driving over there. The food is really good. The beer selection is quite good, and the porch right next to the Pigeon River is excellent.

There are two locations of Best Italian in Gatlinburg. We've eaten at the one listed above, out on the patio, and had good time. Guests have eaten at one or the other and really enjoyed their meal.

This steakhouse has locations in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The Gatlinburg location has been rebuilt after the fire. The steaks are good, but we love going for the amazing french onion soup, maybe a glass of wine, and dessert (then tipping the server well).

The easiest place to enjoy a glass from Goodwater Vineyards is this location in Hartford. The lovely tasting room is across the street from the BP/Pigeon River Smokehouse. I'm really impressed with this Southeastern vineyard. I prefer the dryer wines, but they have lots of sweet berry and muscadine ones too. Unlike other wineries in the area the fruit really is grown here and you can visit up the road in Mosheim/Parrottsville. Call ahead to have a picnic planned.

This is not an easy hike, but the payoff is grand. You will climb up to the Appalachian Trail and end at a lovely stone fire tower with gorgeous views. Locals call Mt Cammerer "White Rock."
