Wake up to the sweet melodies of gibbons, get high with the locals, go squid fishing in the dark, rock climb above the sea, feast out on delicious seafood, walk barefoot on the sand, watch bats fly out of the caves during sunset. This is Railay, a place for you to slow down, live a little and enjoy nature.

A walk down history lane to the home of Kuomintang (KMT) 93rd divison’s descendants. Refusing to surrender to the Communist Party during The Chinese Communist Revolution in 1949, this lost army fled China, hid out in the jungles of Myanmar for 10+ years before making the trek to Thailand to seek asylum.
In exchange for helping The Thai government fight against communist insurgency on the Thai frontier, the Thai government granted them citizenship In 1982.
Beautiful tea plantations, narrow streets with rustic shop houses and Chinese tea houses line this mini Chinese town.

As the sun rises, the beautiful landscape below glows into a magnificent hue of orange red. You start to see rolling hills from East on west and they stretch all the way to the countryside of Laos.

The beautiful temples and ruins that line the old streets give you a glimpse of the former glory of the city.
Don’t forget to try the Boat noodles and Roti Sai Mai - both products of this city :)
