Surrounded on all sides by snow-capped peaks, the shores of Lake Almanor are easy walking distance from Pfauhaus BB. The lake is renowned for year-round trout fishing. Other recreation opportunities include open-water swimming, paddleboarding, and Kayaking. Also see Butt Lake and Walker Lake.

Arguably the best place to buy anything in Chester. This thrift shop has supported the Sierra Hospice nonprofit for many years. A great place to score the occasional Pendleton board shirt or 1920's era waffle maker. They have a nice collection of camping and sports equipment, DVDs, puzzles, and board games all for very cheap. Our favorite thing about this store is its amazing volunteer staff.
