San Diego and Nearby Tourism Attractions

Catch the open air with fresh brewed coffee, tea or an evening breeze with a lite toddy just outside in the foyer of our Serenity’s Haven. Whether you choose to enjoy quality time on our welcome bench, Bristol chairs, walking or running at the neighborhood park, or just taking time to enjoy some ‘Me’ time, we believe that your stay at Serenity’s Haven will have you feeling more refreshed and energized than before. When needing to stay trimmed or just do your healthy walk, why not do it in the quietness of the nearby park. Adjacent to the park is a neighborhood convenience store with gasoline if you have a low fuel emergency. The fire department is in close proximity if there is a sudden health emergency; and having the police department nearby should make you feel more at ease with safety and security under control. You can also catch a local bus that stops on both sides of the street if you decide not to drive. Or, you can board one of the local buses, connect with the Trolley, and make connections to many of our tourist attractions. Enjoy a walk touring Balboa Park with its deluge of culture at the museums, monuments, theaters, art that entertain all ages and cultures. There’s the Botanical House with over 2,100 plants, and a pond with annual displays of lilies and lotuses, whale watching at the Marina, scaling the rocks climbing Osprey Point, visiting Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma and experiencing military presence with reverence of those who served our country and kept us safe. And, there’s the San Diego Zoo, the Old Globe Theatre, Seaport Village, Petco Park, San Diego downtown, and the Gaslamp Quarters. Hop on and off the trolley for Seaport Village and visit the 75 specialty shops and eateries, including the view of the various yachts and beach scenery overlooking Coronado Islands and some of its city view. Get your camera and capture scenes of the bay to Coronado Island, and the city of Coronado itself. Experience a ride on the nearby San Diego Harbor Cruise to Catalina Island and a Sea Lion adventure before you take off to the Island. Enjoy comforting ethnic and amazing Spanish and diverse international comforting foods at different locations around the city. San Diego has universal and international appeal. It has an attractive comfortable climate, laid back style, rich military heritage, unique and diverse ethnic cultural. It has a Mexican influence that seems to spread more throughout southern California, especially in south San Diego near the Mexican border in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Reminisce the scenery and nostalgia of Old Town, its history, culture, food, handcraft, music, and the many adventures of the ‘ole timer Old West days’. Recapture old memories of early sailor days from the USS Midway Museum. It is the longest serving aircraft carrier in the world that’s permanently docked at San Diego’s Embarcadero and has been since 2004. The USS Midway aircraft served in the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm before becoming the largest museum dedicated to aircraft carriers and Navy aviation. There are over 30 restored aircraft, 8 propeller planes, 14 jet aircrafts, and 8 helicopters. Be daring and get a tour guide to lead you through the galley, brig, sleeping quarters, various rooms, and hear parts of stuff about the crew from earlier Midway days. Why not jump start your own adventure getting involved and learning from the ole’ Midway’s history. Have some incredible fun and experience the unique San Diego Sand Castles, the wild and adventurous rides with the Cave of the Winds tours. Take a Harbor Cruise to Catalina Island or just around the bay, and don’t forget La Jolla, Torrey Pines, Mission Bay Beach, Fiesta Island, Imperial Beach and the Marina in Chula Vista. Visit the military air shows, and while in the upscale oceanfront community of La Jolla, enjoy the view of the cliffs with sea caves and little coves where seals and sea lions rest on the sand and checking out tourist passersby. Make sure you have your camera charged to seize memories of the many quaint and fine dining shops off Prospect Street in La Jolla. There you’ll find a lot of fine dining. Experience seeing the fireworks on July 4th that leave unforgettable exciting moments for you. Relax in the open-air concerts during the mid-evenings. Get excited over Dr. Seuss’ art, it will bring back nostalgia moments. You may see a lot of surfing which is one the biggest pleasure times that young folks do at the beach. Spend time observing them riding the tide. So, bring your special surf board, purchase one at a nearby shop to share the fun or just watch with fun and laughter. Let the kids have some fun at the fountains in Waterfront Park and the creatively designed playgrounds. Also, don’t miss Sea World’s deals for kids which may be free when parents pay for themselves or get a weekday pass. Seniors coupons and deals are available, too. In November, you can enjoy the San Diego Bay Wine and Food Festival at the Embarcadero while the San Diego Symphony Orchestra plays the Bayside Summer Nights from late June to the start of September. Now, if you are wondering how many miles to get from Serenity’s Haven to some of the tourist attractions, I’ve calculated it for you. OMG! There is so much to say and see, so you can’t do it in one trip. You’ve got to return and we hope that you will spend that time at Serenity’s Haven!
