Locality
“With a reputation as one of the best surfing beaches in Cornwall Constantine Bay beach offers a sweeping arc of gently shelving soft pale sands. This west-facing beach also has numerous rock pools to explore and is very popular for swimming and surfing. The water quality is routinely tested and currently approved by DEFRA Constantine Bay is separated from its neighbour, Booby's Bay, to the north, by a thin rocky point; bordered by a large rocky reef to the south and backed by a network of sand dunes. Good marine wildlife”

Route
“The South West Coast path runs along from the St Ives seafront. You can head east towards Hayle or west towards Lands End, both directions offer spectacular walking. Inland, the Tinners Way runs from St Ives across Penwith to St Just, offering a slightly easier walk than the coast path. Other walk suggestions: www.cornwall-online.co.uk/walking OS maps & books of local walks can be purchased from St Ives Bookseller in Fore Street”

“Constantine Bay is a beautiful sandy beach and one of the best surfing spots! Be warned, when the waves are big the rips can get very strong and are unforgiving so be careful. In the summer months there is a lifeguard on duty so stay within the flags unless you are very experienced. Low tide connects Constantine to Booby’s Bay, but it is cut off at high tide by a massive rock (which makes for excellent rockpooling) so don’t get caught out. There are toilets and usually a coffee van (weather depending).”
