“ A rental contract of 1604 AD reveals to us what were the needs of Caravaggio, one of the most famous painters of all time, the "damned" character of Italian art - In Rome, we find traces of everything that happens, even more than 400 years ago.”

Synagogue
“The Great Synagogue is a large two storey building with a square base surmounted by a large dome. The Synagogue of the Jewish ghetto of Rome is also, and above all, a place of prayer and a vital cultural reference point for the entire Jewish community. In the basement there is the Jewish museum and the Spanish Temple, a small synagogue which is worth a visit.”

“In 1231 this church substituted the chapel of the antique hospice of St Biagio, where St Francis lived during his stay in Rome, in 1219. Inside his cell one can still find the stone pillow and his crucifix. Entirely rebuilt by Cardinal Pallavicini in 1680, the church is full of sculptures. The interior is very simple and is divided into three naves with numerous pilasters. The aisles host three chapels each. In the Altieri chapel there is the dramatic scuplture by Bernini the Blessed Ludovica Albertoni. It also houses a reliquary altar by Bernini as well as a canvas potraing St Francis made conformingly with the tradition of his devout Jacopa de' Settesoli. In the oratory is the tomb of the great painter Giorgio de Chirico. “You cannot leave Rome without taking the Baroque's route, sightseeing the most important Bernini and Borromini's works of art. These architects shaped what in the 17th century was the fanciest and classiest city in the world. What you cannot miss: - Piazza Navona with Sant'Agnese in Agone facade and the Fountain of the Four Rivers - Sant'Ivo alla Sapienza and his unique, super elegant dome (one of my favorite in Rome) - Via XX Settembre and its churches - Ponte Sant'Angelo and its statues - The world famous Galleria Prospettica and its illusionism, in Palazzo Spada - The Spada Chapel in the San Girolamo della Carità Church (might not be Borromini, but still the Baroque's genius at its finest!) - The Oratorio dei Filippini and Santa Maria in Vallicella - The Propaganda Fide Palace and Sant'Andrea delle Fratte”
