“Beautiful oak woodland situated on the hill above Santa Rosa between Sonoma and Bennett valleys. Excellent hiking and mountain bicycle riding. Be careful when you hike however because mountain bicyclists enjoy virtually unlimited access (for now) and many travel quite fast on narrow trails.”

“Enjoy fresh oysters and a cold one at the outside bar. Or, grab a baguette, cheese, and drinks in Point Reyes Station on your way then buy a bag of oysters at Hog Island and have your own picnic along Tomales Bay. (You can purchase oyster shucking tool there.)”

“The adventurer and author of American classics such as White Fang made his home in Sonoma County, and his former estate is now a California State Park. It’s a sprawling property where London experimented with early sustainable farming techniques, hosted friends, and wrote late into the evening. It features trails, picnic areas, a bookstore, a museum, and a gift shop. Of particular interest are the eerie ruins of the writer’s dream home, called Wolf Hall, which featured 26 rooms and nine fireplaces. The structure burned just before its completion in 1913 and was never rebuilt.”

“Ziplining is already thrilling, but combine it with giant redwood trees and you have a truly unique and unforgettable experience!”

“Reserve a few hours to circumambulate the plaza, taste wine and buy stuff.... get a picnic and settle in the park or eat at one of the many restaurants. I've had a few art shows at Bump Tasting Room and that is fun. Say hi to Geordie for me. Then get frozen yogurt at Top That next door. I'd go to the art museum too but that is me.”

“A place there you can see wildlife in its natural habitat. They have jeep tours which are lovely. This is zoo in a open environment. ”

“Castello di Amorosa is considered an architectural masterpiece with all the elements of an authentic medieval castle: a moat, drawbridge, five towers, high defensive ramparts, courtyards and loggias, a chapel, stables, an armory, and even a torture chamber. 107 rooms in total, no rooms alike.”

“If you have kids, there is a great park there. One of best! There is also a great lake near the park for fishing, row boat rentals, etc. Kids or not, Howarth Park is also at the foot of Annadel State Park, which is a very large natural area filled with hiking and amazing mountain biking! Spring Lake is at the center of the park, and its an amazing and very popular 2.5 (approx) mile walk. We are less than 10 minutes away.”

“The spectacular Sonoma Coast is virtually undeveloped due to the foresight and dedication of countless individuals over the decades. For one thing a group of people stopped a proposed nuclear power plant if the Bodega Head back in the 60s! You can still see the remnants of the initial excavation, now called the 'hole in the head.' Bring your hiking boots and hike the Kortum Trail along the coast, and check out the sheltered coves, the rugged surf, and the sea stacks.”

“Yes they filmed "The Goonies" here!! My favorite drive up the hill and come around the corner for a "wow" view of the rugged coastline. Park at the bluff lot for a vigorous swithback hike down to lovely Blind Beach. This is also where the Kortum Trail begins by heading south on the bluff. Or keep driving and park in one of the lower lots for easier access to Blind Beach and Goat Rock Beach. Park in the north lot for a hike over to the Russian River mouth where you can usually observe large groups of seals and other wildlife, a magical place where waters converge. ”

“A short drive away is a beautiful park - more of a stroll than a proper hike, with views that will make it worth the uphill climb. ”

“If you love history and nature this is the place for you! Enjoy the museum, a stroll through the woods to the Wolfe House, vineyards and private lake. Home to Broadway under the Stars in summer.”
