Madscenen i Sofia

Bar

“Located in a house, a cultural monument of the city, One More is one of Sofia’s most beloved and visited bars. In spring and summer the garden awaits you with refreshing plant life and light cocktails. In the cold months the stylish interior, mix of history and adventurous contemporary design, provides various hot drinks and fine tunes. Also: the taste and quality of the appetizers and sandwiches here would make most restaurants envious.”

“Step back in time at Raketa, a restaurant that teasingly harkens back to the era of socialism in Bulgaria with its Communist memorabilia and other retro decor. You'll want to explore the extensive selection of rakia, a traditional Balkan spirit similar to brandy. Take recommendations from your server if you feel overwhelmed, and perhaps stumble over to Sputnik next door afterwards to continue the night with some offbeat, unique cocktails. Reservations recommended.”

“Literally the restaurant is hosted by a beautiful, a 140 years old, blue house. For me, every time I walk into their little cosy garden or enter in one of their rooms is like going inside a fairy-tale - a promise of mysterious story or a hidden secret. As if Tim Burton was hired to do the interior, almost animated, but at the same time arty and retro. I can't explain the food there, except for one word - tasty! It is a mixture of what you think you know, but find out you had no idea. The menu is short and seasonal and totally affordable. It has just a pinch of the pretentiousness of a fancy restaurant sprinkled over wholesome meals and full plates. Do not miss!”

“This artistic restaurant has been a local’s favourite since its inception. Expect a variety of foods and tastes and intricate interior, meticulously created by the owners themselves. The daily menu provides fresh and original recipes for every lunch while the tables directly on the street overlook one of the prettiest neighborhoods in Sofia.”

“The Little Things actually spreads itself across two floors and a shared yard of an old house. As promised, here you’ll find plenty of details, antiques, old books and furniture. Thankfully, the same principles are applied to the varied and tasty menu. The food bares homely and provencal feel with a careful balance between vegetarian and meat recipes.”

Arts & Crafts Store
“As the name suggests (“daga” means rainbow) is rich with tastes, be it for coffee or delicious breakfasts and desserts. Situated below Dondukov boulevard, this place is perfect for energizing before a long day or a walk around one of Sofia’s quietest and most charming neighborhoods.”

“Right after you cross the door the staff makes everything to make you feel relaxed and enjoy your time to the fullest. Serving huge delicious, nicely decorated portions at a decent price makes it a suitable place to have dinner. You can find it on Lavele 19 street, in a minutes walking distance away from Serdika.”

“These guys reprogrammed my entire approach towards street food. Thanks to them two things happened. One - I eat a lot less (a lot less!) fast food, because I became more aware, and two - they convinced me that preparing a good sandwich is no less easier than cooking the perfect souffle. Pulled pork, classic veal burger, fresh potato fries, caramelized onions and real (real!!!) cheddar - you name it. Add to that more crispy bacon and a small very tasty craft beer from their fridge and dive into the 'abliss'. :) p.s. Don't forget to tell the boys how you prefer your meat - rare, medium or well done. ”

“Supa Star is a soup bar - every day they have several varieties of soups - all of them super delicious!! They offer also small salads and sandwiches, but the soups are a must :) It is very cozy place - if you go on the second floor you can watch toward the street and observe the locals.”

“Want to try the best burgers in town? The battle for the Best Burger Title in Sofia is between Boom! Burgers and Street Chefs. Our personal preference - Boom! No reservation needed. They have two restaurants, one is near the National Assembly and the other - near Vitosha Blvd. ”

“A typical Bulgarian, it can be too crowded and they also have a typical Bulgarian band playing sometimes. It may be crowded to make a reservation. If they come to you (the band) and you play with them, or pay attention to them or even request a song, make sure to tip them. The tip can vary from 20 to 200 lv even. It depends on your choice. ”
