History Museum
“These "potholes" began to form after the last glacier age when the Deerfield River first started to flow over the rocks, about 14,000 years ago. As the glaciers receded, “pools” ranging from 6 inches to 39 feet in diameter were formed. These pools, aka potholes, continue to be formed to this day when the snow melts and the water rises significantly.”
