“The best bagels in San Francisco, and an amazing deli. Terrific breakfast and lunch spot. And also good to stroll 24th Street and the vibrant community of small shops.”

“Wonderful lunch spot. Grab soup and a salad (and fried-chicken sandwich), and pair with a glass of wine or Fieldwork craft beer. Just a few doors down from Sightglass Coffee and right next door to Trick Dog (best cocktails in the city).”

“A great local spot to head to if Precita Park Cafe isn't your jam. Charlie is often there and is one of the friendliest guys you'll ever meet. Great for a quick bite before exploring the city - but also a nice place to for an afternoon with a cup of coffee and a book. They open at 6:30am (30 minutes before Precita Park Cafe) if you're an early bird, but they're closed on Sundays.”

“A slice of the Mission’s Italian roots, this is an old school 1950s-style deli. Gawk at their ceiling mural of La Bella Italia or watch how they still use the antique cash register to ring you up. They make their own pasta and ravioli, and you can watch them make it through a window—the entire room is covered in flour from top to bottom. Their torpedo sandwiches are the best deal in the city—they only come with deli meat, cheese, and bread, but for just $3.50, it’s basically enough meat to make three sandwiches.”

“High-end market. Like a smaller version of Whole Foods with local products. Their ice-cream is a can’t-miss. Good deli, too. Grab some snacks and head up to Alamo Square for a picnic.”

“Whole Foods deli section is a great place for an inexpensive meal nearby. They offer a variety of hot entrees, sides, salads, soups, sandwiches, pizza by the slice--even sushi. You can take it to go or eat at the counter by the window or at the tables outside.”

“Reasonably priced organic food and great packaged meal coices. To get there go out the front door and make a right. Walk up to Hyde St. and make another right. Trader Joe's is just 4 blocks down Hyde St.”

“Iconic Italian deli. Great sandwiches with in-house salami, etc. Try the Renzo, Sausage and Peppers, or Chicken Parm. They are great. Make sure to take a number as soon as you walk in. Go to the rear left corner and pick your bread.”
